May 26 is Memorial Day. Although it’s a solemn day when we remember those who have given their lives in the service of their Country, Memorial Day weekend is also the unofficial beginning of summer.
American philosopher Robert Rorty said, “Always strive to excel, but only on weekends.” Indeed, many of us build our lives around weekends—our time to get away from the daily grind and relax with family and friends. This year, instead of vegging out on the sofa, take advantage of the long weekend to think big. Reboot your life. Make a list of goals and start working on them. Clean out the clutter, inside your mind and inside your home. On Tuesday morning, come back to work as a new person. Here’s how.
10. Take a day to relax, a day to meditate on your life, and a day to make a list of goals.
What did you want out of life? How well did you do? Take time to reset your priorities and refocus on working toward your personal goals.
