Eventually, both Grandma Annie and Suhaila realize it is time for the girl to return home. They kiss and hug each other, and when Suhaila gets home, she relates her adventure to her mother. Illustrator Yuyi Morales has won the Pura Belpre Medal three times among other awards, and has previously stated the importance that textures and colors have in her work, which is evident in this book, that certainly uses textures and earth tones to make readers believe in the dream world that Shuaila experiences while visiting Grandma Annie. Interestingly, author Soetoro-Ng is the half-sister of President Barack Obama.
