Let’s talk location, because New Road is genuinely brilliant for getting around. You’re a three-minute walk from the Westquay shopping centre and about five minutes from the train station. The ferry terminal? Ten minutes on foot—perfect for a trip to the Isle of Wight.
But here’s the ironic bit: because it’s city centre, you will hear the occasional ambulance or late-night reveller. I’m not going to lie to you—my room faced the main road, and it wasn’t whisper-quiet. If you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back or bring earplugs. Do it. Your sanity will thank you.
The Room: Exactly What You Expect (But Better)
You walk in, and it’s the Premier Inn signature: a perfectly made bed with that Hypnos mattress that makes you forget all your problems. The pillows are a bit hit-or-miss for me—one was too fluffy, the other too flat—but hey, you can’t win ’em all. The bathroom was spotless, with a shower that had actual water pressure. Miracle.
There’s a desk, a TV with Freeview, and—wait for it—a USB charging port right by the bed. I nearly wept. My dying phone was resuscitated within minutes. Someone in their design team clearly stays in hotels themselves. Top marks for not being a complete tech-phobe.
