7. Kissing Abstinence
Sometimes kissing in different cultures means abstinence. Neither Somalis or the Sirono of Bolivia practice the lip lock. Some Amazonian tribes kiss as children but adults refrain from the practice.

Because kissing in China was considered to be as intimate as sex, and therefore relegated only to the bedroom, the first European travelers assumed that the Chinese didn’t kiss.
