You might think pop divas and rock gods dominate the list, and you’d be right. But the numbers are staggering—we’re talking billions of dollars, not millions. The top grossing concert tours of all time aren’t just shows; they are full-blown cultural phenomena.
At the very top sits Elton John with his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour. It grossed over $939 million—almost a billion dollars in ticket sales. Can you imagine singing "Rocket Man" with 60,000 other people? That’s a memory you’d never, ever forget.
Right behind him is Taylor Swift with her "Eras Tour," which is still on the road. She’s already shattered records with over $1 billion in revenue. It’s basically a live musical marathon of her entire career—and the world just can’t get enough of it.
But Wait—It’s Not Just About the Money
Sure, the dollar figures are mind-blowing. But here’s the real secret: these tours succeed because they tap into something deeper. They create shared joy. When you’re at a U2 show (they’re on the top list too, by the way), you’re part of a massive, temporary community.
Think about it: Bruce Springsteen’s tours are legendary for their three-hour energy blasts. The Rolling Stones? They’ve been touring for six decades and still pack stadiums. It’s not just nostalgia—it’s proof that music makes life more fun, richer, and more connected.

And let’s give a shout-out to Ed Sheeran. His "Divide Tour" grossed $776 million using just a loop pedal and a guitar. No flashy dancers, no giant props—just a guy and his songs. That’s raw, unfiltered power.
