COSMO Latina Logo-ReducedSo you just finished your internship and you have no idea how to stay in touch. The last thing you want to be is that annoying, brown-nosing past intern. Here is the right way to keep a relationship without overdoing it.

Send a thank you note right after your internship
A nice hand-written thank you note is a perfect way for someone to remember you. Keep it short and simple, and end it with an “I hope to work together again in the future.”  Just thank your boss for the experience and opportunity, and let them know that you’ve learned so much.

Contact them no more than 3 times per year
Be strategic about how you contact them. If you saw your old boss at a public event on TV or read something positive about them in the media, reach out and congratulate. You can also just send an email saying hello, asking how things are going. Just make sure you don’t do this more than three times a year, about every 4-5 months. Contacting them too much seems like brown nosing and can get really annoying, especially because employers get really busy.
