15. Children are fleeing abuse or exploitation.
A report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees indicated 70% of 404 children from Mexico and Central America are fleeing domestic abuse or other violence in their home countries.

16. Sexual violence at the border is also an issue.
As if it’s not bad enough that they’re getting it in their home countries, there are increasing numbers of children and teenagers reporting various levels of sexual abuse by U.S. border agents and immigration staff as well as by other detainees at the border.
