There is nothing wrong with dough fried and dipped in cinnamon and sugar. Colombians, Cubans and Mexicans all have their own version of Buñeulos that pairs perfectly with coffee or cocoa.
This is another traditional holiday treat that we serve year round because, why not? Pasteles are like tamales but they are made with plantains instead of corn. Making them as a family before enjoying them together is part of the fun.
