What are you planning to do with your tax refund? Presuming you’re getting one and not having to pay the IRS, that is. If you’re like most Americans, you’re planning on paying off debt or saving it or both. As reported in CNN Money and shown in this infographic, Americans have consistently done both over the last five years. In addition, Americans often use their refund—on average $2,753— to help cover the costs of everyday expenses, perhaps buy that major appliance and/or go on vacation. Chances are they use their windfall for a variety of things, which is why this graph doesn’t add up to 100 percent. Happy saving. Or spending.
