Most municipalities require a permit to operate a business out of your home. And you can imagine the number of permits needed to open a bakery or food truck. Make your way to City Hall, explain what you’re doing and get advice. Better to pay the fees up front then get penalized for not having the right permits later.

Set this up! Chances are you know how to keep a budget; you probably already do it for household expenses. In the beginning, you can keep a business accounting system the same way. There’s time later to work with a computer based system or to hire an accountant.
