Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher

I am not a fan of Margaret Thatcher’s politics, but I do admire her guts. As a woman, I could feel the anger boil inside me when a member of parliament laughingly tried to dismiss her by saying, “me thinks the right and honorable lady doth screech too much…” Thatcher and Toe were more interested in ideas than feelings. Perhaps that is a characteristic of women, those Iron Ladies, who dared to have ambition when society thought they should not stray beyond the kitchen or bedroom.  Toe did not become a leader in Mexican politics, but she did rise to a high level in a banking career where nary a woman was seen at the time.
