She was generous with her money, her wisdom and her advice. She is now 96-years-old and although withered by age, she is still formidable and very much alive. But I wish so badly that my daughter was old enough to have seen Toe in her prime, leading discussions, setting the menu for parties, playing Chopin, teaching her to dance flamenco.  And so when I hear my daughter defend herself against a perceived injustice or declare at dinner, “Well, somebody has to be the leader, so I might as well be the one!” I think of Toe and I smile. Thank you to all the Iron Ladies who have forged the way for the rest of us.
