Han Solo is everyone’s favorite scoundrel, in the mold of Errol Flynn’s Robin Hood or Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. He’s a smuggler and a hero, a pilot and patriot. Though he protests, “Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money,” he swoops back in the nick of time to aid the rebel troops against the evil empire. And he always gets the girl. When Leia declares, “I love you!” Han replies “I know,” and is then frozen solid by the bounty hunter who tracked him down. Now that’s cool.
