John Carpenter wrote the perfectly creepy score for Halloween. It’s been sampled in numerous songs since including: The Tower by Ice-T and Murder Ink by Dr. Dre.

Roger Ebert’s rave review comparing Halloween to Psycho helped to legitimize the low budget slasher flick. However, he gave a thumbs-down to all the sequels.
