Every year, the third Thursday of November marks the Great American Smokeout, the American Cancer Society’s annual event to encourage smokers to quit. The health benefits of quitting smoking are almost immediate and a smoker can undo years of damage and greatly reduce her risk of cancer and other health problems by quitting.
