If your screen is physically twitching—like an old TV that’s seen too many soap operas—you can freeze it by jiggling the video cable just slightly. This disconnects the signal for a microsecond, and many monitors will display a “No Signal” message. That’s a freeze, technically.
Warning: This also works on your sanity. Do this too often and your monitor will start judging you. One guy I know got his screen to freeze for thirty seconds by slapping the side of his monitor like a frustrated mechanic. The screen was fine. His hand was not.
