Emoji text messages are evolving, which is good and bad. The original emoji had many symbols to use, but represented no ethnic diversity. So, as NY Mag says, the more recent version now offers “the option to change the skin tone of certain emoji to different hues on the FitzPatrick scale, a “recognized standard for dermatology.”” But as new emojis are being added to your arsenal, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the meanings. There is more variety, yes, but there’s also a lot more to be confused about. Sometimes it seems like new symbols are being created faster than you can translate them.
