Many people swing between two extremes: blind trust (“If I question him, I’m the problem”) or detective mode (“I need to prove it right now”). Both can backfire. The goal isn’t obsessive checking; it’s establishing reliable facts and boundaries.
Truth-seeking is healthy when it uses proportionate methods and respects privacy. Investigations can become risky when they involve stalking, illegal access, or escalation that drains your mental health.
A good rule: verify what you legitimately can, and ask for accountability in ways that don’t turn you into an investigator for every conflict.
