11. Marigolds
Colorful marigolds are known as the flower of the dead. They’re used in alter decorations and placed on the graves of the departed. The fragrance of the Marigolds is supposed to lead the spirits home.

12. Beyond Mexico
Although the Day of the Dead originated in Mexico it is also celebrated in other countries. Cities in the U.S. with large Mexican immigrant populations brought their traditions with them in joyous celebrations.
