12. Stay below the credit limit.
Be aware of your spending by checking your statement online so that you don’t go above your credit limit. If you do, you will be charged a fee and you may be susceptible to higher interest rates in the future.

13. When possible, avoid fees.
Nobody likes the “F” word. We’re talking about fees, of course. You can be charged fees for a number of credit card activities including late payments, returned payments, over-the-limit spending and paying by phone. Read your credit card agreement carefully so you know what you can and cannot do to avoid fees.
