Kids Learn Cooperation Sharing is caring; we’ve said that to our kids more times than we can count. And you can further teach this lesson in the kitchen as you dole out chores and show your kids how to divide up their responsibilities and work together. One kid might want to do all the mixing, but part of the learning experience is teaching them to hand over the spoon and watch someone else work as well. They’ll learn not only how to socialize with others but also how to work side-by-side, focusing on their own jobs as a part of a team effort.
Cleaning Up In a perfect world our kids would pick up their dirty clothes, do their own laundry, make their bed, put down the toilet seat and put away their toys when they are done. As we all know too well, this is not a perfect world. Kids are messy, it’s in their nature and quite frankly, it is their right as a kid to be a bit of a slob. But it’s also important to teach them how to tidy up their own mess. The cleanup skills they learn in the kitchen will help them when they are in school, when they go off to college, and eventually (sooner than we’d like) when they have a home of their own.
