We have to be honest…we’ve seen this fruit in our local market and we ran the other way. It doesn’t really look like most fruits because it is encased in a husk that looks kind of like a cocoon. But inside that shell is a fruit that is a close relative of our friend the tomato. Which means you can use it in similar ways (in salads, pastas etc.) and you’ll benefit from similar health perks, as this fruit is a good source of calcium, iron, vitamin A and C.
