Ahh High School: you either hated it or it was the best time of your life. High School was a rite of passage for all of us, replete with changes and all the feelings and emotions that come with such change (#puberty). Because it’s so ripe with sentiment, this period of our adolescent lives is also the fodder for many high school movies. Creator of the cult fave, Freaks and Geeks, Paul Feig sums it up, “I feel like most of the stuff I draw on, even today, is based on stuff that happened back then.”

As your kids face the school year with either excitement or fear (probably a little bit of both), get them in the spirit by watching a few of these high school movies. Some are dead-on portrayals of the high school experience, some are far-fetched farces and most lie somewhere in between. So kick back with your kiddos and hold your own School Flick Festival right at home, and help get everyone amped for a great academic fall season.
