Once upon a time coloring books were just for kids, but those days are long gone. Like so many other activities that were once considered reserved for little ones (board games, puzzles, crafting), the adult coloring book is taking the grown-up activity world by storm. In fact, when discussing the popularity of Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book, a recent article in The New Yorker stated that “since the book’s release in 2013, it has sold about two million copies worldwide;” in addition, “for a time earlier this year, Secret Garden and a follow-up, Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest and Coloring Book were the two best-selling books on Amazon.” That’s a lot of coloring books being used by a lot of adults, looking for a release from the stress of their everyday lives.
