The actual game is a metaphor for life, isn’t it? (Okay, that’s a bit deep for a blog post, but hear me out.) You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if you drop your counter on a lopsided stack of 2p coins, you are going home. The producers are looking for people who understand risk. In the audition, they might ask you how you handle pressure. Say you love it. Say you thrive on the sound of clinking metal.
Do not say you get nervous and shaky. They’ll picture you knocking the machine over, and that’s a health and safety nightmare.
What to Wear: The Great Debate
You want to look like a person who watches daytime TV. Not a person who judges daytime TV. So no designer suits, but also no pyjamas. The sweet spot is “smart casual with a pop of colour.” Ben Shephard often wears a blue shirt. Don’t match Ben. That’s just weird.
I wore a mustard-yellow jumper to my audition. I looked like a friendly traffic cone. They remembered me. Mission accomplished.
