Because it’s weird. The Shard cost £1.5 billion. That’s enough to buy 30 million cups of tea. And for what? So people can stand 800 feet up, drink expensive champagne, and look down at tiny red buses. It’s absolutely ridiculous. And that’s why we love it.
Also, it glows at night. The tip has a light that flashes red. Pilots use it to avoid crashing. It’s like a giant “hey, don’t hit me” signal. Very polite for such an aggressive building.
