You’ll mostly ride on South Western Railway trains. They are the brave little toasters of the rail world. They’re clean, they’re frequent, and they’re usually on time, which in London is like spotting a unicorn. The trains run every few minutes, so you never have to wait long. It’s almost too convenient.
Inside, you’ll find the usual suspects: people staring at phones, people sleeping with their mouths open, and that one person trying to eat a croissant without getting crumbs on their suit. It’s all very human, and I love it.

The View (or Lack Thereof)
Let’s be honest: the view is mostly back gardens, railway yards, and the occasional glimpse of the London Eye. But that’s part of the charm. You get a secret, behind-the-scenes tour of the city. You see washing lines, overgrown gardens, and the back of a giant IKEA sign. Very glamorous.
If you look out the right window just after leaving Waterloo, you might spot the London Eye peeking over the rooftops. It’s like the train is saying, “Hey, remember you’re in London? Have a quick souvenir.”
