It all started back in 2001, when the US launched a military campaign in Afghanistan in response to the 9/11 attacks. The goal was to take down Al-Qaeda and its leader, Osama bin Laden, and to liberate the country from the grip of the Taliban. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, fast forward 20 years, and we're still there, trying to wrap things up.
Now, you might be wondering, what's taking so long? Well, it's not for lack of trying, that's for sure. The US has poured billions of dollars into the war effort, and has lost thousands of soldiers in the process. And let's not forget the Afghan people, who have been caught in the crossfire for decades, trying to survive in a war-torn country.
