According to reports from 2026 and 2026, Lionel Messi edges ahead with a net worth estimated around $600 million. Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t far behind, sitting at roughly $500 million. That’s a difference of about $100 million—basically a ridiculous amount of money for most of us, but for them, it’s just a couple of seasons of playing.
But hey, does $100 million really matter when you’re both already set for life? It’s like comparing two luxury yachts; one is just a tiny bit longer. The real fun is in how they got there, not just the final number.
The Salary Showdown
Ronaldo has made headlines with his move to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, reportedly earning a jaw-dropping $200 million per year from his contract alone. That’s more than most small countries’ GDPs! Meanwhile, Messi’s move to Inter Miami in MLS came with a package worth about $50 million to $60 million annually from the club, plus a slice of Apple TV and Adidas deals.
Wait, so Ronaldo’s salary is way bigger? Yes, but Messi makes up for it with his lifetime deal with Adidas and a mountain of other endorsements. Ronaldo’s brand is huge, but Messi’s appeal is more subtle and global. It’s like choosing between a flashy sports car and a classic, timeless one—both get you where you’re going, just in different styles.
