For most standard, large Tesco stores, the answer is usually 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM. But—and this is the crucial bit—it isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. Think of it like British weather: you have to check your local forecast.
The smaller Tesco Express stores? They are the heroes of the Bank Holiday. They often stick to their usual hours, which can be as early as 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM. They are the reliable friend who is always there when you need them.
Why You Should Care (Beyond the Biscuit Emergency)
Imagine this: It’s 10:00 AM on the bank holiday. You’ve had a lazy lie-in, the house is quiet, and you decide to make a glorious fry-up. You have eggs, you have bread, but you open the fridge to find no bacon. Tragedy.
Now, if you know your local Tesco opens at 9:00 AM, you can stroll in, grab the bacon, and be back before the pan has even heated up. But if you assume it opens at 8:00 AM like a normal Tuesday, you might arrive at 8:30 AM and find a locked door and a very lonely trolley waiting outside.
