Let’s get specific. The Denham Roundabout is the real star of the show. It’s a five-exit monster where the lanes shift mid-turn. Local legend says if you can navigate it without stalling, you earn a free latte from the nearby Costa. That’s a lie. You earn nothing except the right to try again in ten working days.
One driving instructor told me, “Denham isn’t a roundabout; it’s a personality test.” If you hesitate, you fail. If you’re too aggressive, you fail. If you sneeze at the wrong moment, the examiner might sigh loudly, which is practically a deduction. It’s like trying to parallel park inside a washing machine during a spin cycle.
Here’s a shocking fact: nearly 30% of all failures at Uxbridge happen within 500 meters of that roundabout. Some learners never even see the test centre again; they just walk straight home to cry into a tub of Ben & Jerry’s.

The "Ghost Instructor" Theory
Now, for the juicy, unconfirmed stuff. There’s a rumour among local instructors about the "Ghost of Uxbridge." No, not a spooky skeleton. It’s a mythical student who supposedly passed on their first try with zero minors back in 2009. Every year, some fresh-faced kid claims they saw the name in the logbook. It’s probably a lie.
But let’s be real—who actually passes here? You’d think only knights with laser focus or people who practiced on the same roundabout for 400 hours. Actually, the highest pass rate group is women over 30. Why? They’ve run out of patience for nonsense. They treat the examiner like a chatty Uber driver and simply execute. It’s terrifyingly effective.
Meanwhile, teenagers roll in like they’re in a Fast & Furious movie and leave having earned a new appreciation for public transport. The contrast is hilarious.
