Here’s the thing—Scotland has Edinburgh. Wales has Cardiff. Northern Ireland has Belfast. They all have their own capitals and their own fierce pride. And they will absolutely let you know that London isn’t theirs.
But for the United Kingdom as a whole? London is the big cheese, the main event, the one with the crown jewels and the most tourists getting lost. It’s the capital of the capital, if that makes sense.
So, when someone says “London is the capital of Britain,” they’re right. Annoyingly right. It’s a city that works hard, plays hard, and charges you seven pounds for a coffee without blinking. But you can’t help but love it.
Next time you’re stuck in a traffic jam near Oxford Street, just remember: you’re in the center of the universe (or at least, the center of this rainy, wonderful, weird little island). And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Cheers.
