You think it’s a real block of flats in London? Wrong.
The exterior shots of Nelson Mandela House are a fake. It’s a mocked-up door and window on a soundstage at BBC Television Centre.
But wait—there’s a twist. The soaring concrete tower blocks you see in the background? Those are real. They belong to the Whites Estate in South London.
Specifically, Bermondsey. The Tanners, the Driscolls, and the whole Peckham crowd supposedly lived there.
So the estate you see on screen is actually in SE16, not SE15. Mind your head.
