Right now, the biggest clue is that Mercurio hasn’t said “never.” In a 2026 interview, he called the show’s future “a conversation for another day.” That’s not a denial—it’s a maybe wrapped in a mystery. For fans, that’s enough to keep the flame alive. Think of it like waiting for the next season of Stranger Things: frustrating, but the anticipation is half the fun.
In the meantime, re-watch the iconic interviews. Sing “Now we’re sucking diesel” at the screen. Debate online about whether Dot Cottan was the true villain. Let’s face it: the show lives on in our hearts, whether it’s on air or not. And if a new season eventually lands? Well, that’ll be the moment we all grab our notepads and prepare for the mother of all interrogations.
So, is there a new season of Line of Duty? The answer, my friend, is a beautifully frustrating “not yet.” But keep your phone on, because the call might just come through. And when it does, we’ll be ready to spot the bent coppers all over again.
