So, is Sadiq Khan still Mayor of London? Yes. Emphatically yes. He’s as much the Mayor as the Thames is the river that smells a bit like sewage and regret. He’s got three more years on his contract, unless he decides to spontaneously combust or finally snaps and tries to turn the Gherkin into a giant bouncy castle. Neither seems likely, though I’d pay good money to see the bouncy castle.
Next time you’re stuck on the Tube and someone mutters, “Is the Mayor still around?” just reply: “He sure is, mate. He’s probably the reason this train is moving at 3mph.” Then take a deep breath, remember he’s the guy who got you a Hopper bus fare, and accept the beautiful, chaotic truth. Sadiq Khan remains your Mayor. And he’s not leaving the stage until at least 2028, unless he gets a better offer from the Cornish cheese industry.
