Remember that scene in Catching Fire? Katniss is spinning on that platform, ready for the Quarter Quell. She’s wearing her stunning, burning wedding dress. Then, boom. Peacekeepers drag Cinna away. They beat him, right in front of her. It’s a nightmare.
He doesn’t even get a heroic last stand or a beautiful goodbye. He just gets taken. It’s one of the most horrible, quiet, violent moments in the whole series. You’re screaming at the page or screen, right? “Not Cinna! Anyone but him!”
Why Did This Happen?
Think about it. Cinna wasn’t just a stylist. He was a revolutionary with a sewing machine. He dressed Katniss as the Mockingjay. He made the Capitol look ridiculous. He basically lit the match for the rebellion while wearing a gold eyeliner.
President Snow is not a fool. He saw exactly what Cinna did. The nightlock berries on the dress? The wedding gown turning into a Mockingjay costume? That’s not just fashion. That’s treason. And Snow punishes treason with extreme prejudice. He made sure Katniss saw Cinna suffer. It was a warning.
