This is his official residence. It’s where he does most of his paperwork, meets diplomats, and, yes, snoozes in his royal pajamas. The house is famously cozy (for a palace) and has a private garden where he talks to his plants.
Fun fact: He inherited Clarence House from his grandmother, the Queen Mother. She lived there for nearly 50 years, so the place smells like history and lavender. Charles even kept her old furniture and a giant collection of ornamental swans.
But wait, there’s a catch
Clarence House is currently undergoing a massive renovation. So right now, the King is mostly camping out at Buckingham Palace. Yes, he’s living in the big, famous one—but he doesn’t love it.
Buckingham Palace is enormous (775 rooms!). But Charles thinks it’s a bit drafty and inefficient. He’s even opened up the state rooms for tours to pay for repairs. That’s right: tourists can now peep into his temporary living room.
