Here’s my challenge to you: Next time you rewatch that episode (and you will), don’t just mourn Jack. Celebrate the slow cooker. Seriously. Name it. Thank it for reminding you that tomorrow isn’t promised, but tonight’s dinner can still be delicious.
This Is Us season 2: How did Jack die in This Is Us? | TV & Radio
And when you hear someone ask, “How did Jack die?” you can smile and say, “He lived so well that the universe had to interrupt him with the most ridiculous plot twist ever.” It’s a badge of honor for anyone who loves a good, messy, beautiful story.
Your Turn to Be Inspired
So, are you ready to watch (or rewatch) with fresh eyes? Forget the cause of death for a minute. Focus on the cause of life. Jack’s legacy isn’t a fire; it’s the way he made pancakes on Saturdays and held his wife’s hand during hard times.
Take that energy into your own day. Be a little more Jack. Be goofy, be brave, and—this is key—check the cord on your slow cooker. Then laugh at how weirdly connected we all are by a fictional man and a kitchen appliance.
You’ve got this. Go make your life a beautiful, funny, tear-filled masterpiece. And when you’re done, look up the episode again. You’ll cry less and laugh more—and that’s exactly how Jack would want it.
