Here’s where things get weirder. Will is back, but he’s not quite himself. He starts having flashbacks to the Upside Down, seeing visions of the Mind Flayer, and—get this—he can feel when the monster is near. It’s like a superpower, but a super-unpleasant one.
The bad news: a piece of the Mind Flayer is literally inside him. He becomes a walking, talking spy camera for the shadow monster. Joyce and Hopper have to “exorcise” him with a makeshift sauna and a whole lot of screaming. Brave kid.
By the end, Will gets puked out by the monster and is finally free. But the experience leaves him with a permanent PTSD chaser and a new habit of shivering at the sight of fog.
