If you’re 18 or over, go to the Selective Service website and fill out the form. It takes less time than scrolling through your Instagram feed. Then, you can put the whole draft thing out of your mind until your morning coffee kicks in.
And the next time you hear someone say “the draft is coming,” just shrug. It’s about as likely as your neighbor’s cat suddenly running for president. The odds are low, but it pays to know the rules.
After all, the only thing worse than getting drafted is getting drafted and not knowing what to do with your hands. So keep calm, register, and maybe learn how to fold a military-issue blanket. You’ll be ready for anything—except your mom’s surprise visits.
