But, MIA isn't just limited to the military - it's also used in aviation to describe a plane that's gone missing or hasn't landed at its destination. And, let me tell you, it's not just a minor inconvenience when a plane goes MIA - it's a full-blown international incident!
In the world of law enforcement, MIA can also mean Missing In Action, but it's used to describe a person who's gone missing, usually a child or a vulnerable adult. And, sadly, it's a situation that's all too common - according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a child goes missing every 40 seconds in the US alone.
