Make a list of all the dumb things you’ve done together. The vacation where you got lost for six hours. The time you painted the living room the wrong color. Read that list out loud. You’ll cry from laughing.
Then, plan the next year. Thirty years is huge, but thirty-one is cool too. Keep making memories. Keep annoying each other. Keep being weird together. That’s the pearl in all of this.
And seriously, buy each other a pearl. Not a real one from a clam. A chocolate pearl. Or a joke pearl. Something that says, “We made it, and we’re still hungry for more.” Thirty years is the appetizer. The main course is the rest of your life.
So raise a glass. Toast to the past, the present, and the future. And then hide the remote control. Just to keep things interesting.
