This is where it gets hands-on. A ripe lemon on a potted tree will feel heavy for its size. Pick it up and feel the weight in your palm.
Now, give it a very soft squeeze. It should have a little give, like a firm handshake. Not rock hard, and not mushy like a sponge.
If it feels like a golf ball, leave it alone. If it feels like a tennis ball, you’re in the sweet spot. That slight softness means the juice inside is fully developed.
