In 2026, the Wales family made a major move that surprised few and delighted many: they decamped to Adelaide Cottage. This isn’t a quaint little cottage in the way you’d picture a thatched-roof storybook. It’s a charming, four-bedroom home on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the Queen’s beloved weekend retreat.
Why Windsor? Because William and Kate wanted something genuine for their children—George, Charlotte, and Louis. They wanted a life where the kids could ride bikes, splash in puddles, and walk to school without a paparazzi lens in every bush. Adelaide Cottage offers that privacy and a more normal family rhythm.
Think of it as the royal family’s version of “moving to the suburbs”— but the suburb has a 1,000-year-old castle and a moat. Talk about an upgrade.
