The more alcohol (and thus higher proof) in your bottle, the lower the temperature it needs to turn into a boozy slushie. A standard beer (around 5% ABV) will freeze in your average home freezer, which sits at about 0°F. Your 80-proof whiskey? It’ll laugh at 0°F and stay liquid for a while longer.
