What I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It’s run by a lovely couple who greet you like a old friend. They’ll give you a map, point out the best walks, and kindly ignore your bad jokes.
Because it’s a small site, you quickly get to know your camping neighbors. You’ll compare notes on awnings, share stories of that time your awning tried to fly away, and swap recommendations for local pubs. It’s like a tiny, transient village.
And the peace—oh, the blissful peace. At night, the only sounds are the wind in the trees and the distant, muffled cheer from the racecourse if someone’s just won £5. It’s the kind of quiet that resets your brain.

A Few Practical Giggles
One thing: you’re sharing the field with the racecourse’s horses. They are majestic, but they also drop a fair amount of… natural fertilizer. Watch your step on the grass paths near the stables. No one wants to come back with a shoe that smells like a farmyard riot.
Also, the site is only open from March to October. So no winter “camping in a blizzard” nonsense here—thank goodness. Leave that to the hardcore YouTubers.
And if you forget your key for the gate code? Well, you’ll befriend a local sheep. (There aren’t any sheep, but you’ll feel like one pressing random buttons in the dark.)
