First up, Sir Paul McCartney. The guy is basically a walking miracle of biology and good vibes. He turned 82 in 2026, and he’s still out there, headlining Glastonbury and playing bass like a man half his age.
Is it just me, or does Paul look like he’s been preserved in amber? I swear, if you told me he drinks bottled youth, I’d believe you. He’s still releasing albums, still touring, and still making headlines for vegan activism. Honestly, the man has more energy than my phone battery on a good day.
Then we have Ringo Starr. He’s 84, and he’s the cool, laid-back uncle of the surviving duo. Ringo is famous for his “peace and love” catchphrase, and he still throws a birthday party every year where fans from all over send him virtual hugs (yes, that’s a real thing he encourages).
Ringo doesn’t tour as much as Paul, but he still fronts his All-Starr Band. And let’s be honest—he’s the only drummer in history who can get away with a lyric like “I’ve got blisters on my fingers!” It’s a glorious thing to watch him drum, all smiles and shaggy hair.

The Ones We Lost: John and George
Now for the hard part—because you can’t dodge the elephant in the room. John Lennon was taken from us on December 8, 1980. He was shot outside his New York apartment, just as he was re-entering the music scene after a five-year break. It’s the kind of loss that still feels raw, even for those of us who weren’t alive then. If you are old enough to remember it, I’m sorry—I know that day never really fades.
And George Harrison, the quiet Beatle, left us in 2001 after a long battle with cancer. He was 58. It’s ironic that the guy who wrote “All Things Must Pass” ended up being the one to teach us that lesson so soon. I still get a lump in my throat when I hear “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Don’t pretend you don’t, either.
