Even the best system can fail if you use it wrong. Here are the most common errors we saw during testing.
- Not preheating the water: Cold water takes more energy to heat. Fill the reservoir with warm water if possible. It saves battery and gives you hotter showers.
- Overfilling the reservoir: More water means more weight and longer heating time. Use only what you need. A typical shower uses 10 to 15 liters.
- Ignoring battery management: Lithium batteries lose capacity in cold weather. Keep the battery warm inside your tent or sleeping bag overnight.
- Poor tent placement: Set up the tent on level ground. Avoid roots and rocks. A tilted tent makes the floor uneven and water can pool.
- Skipping the test run: Always test the system at home before your trip. A faulty pump or a leaky hose is easier to fix in your backyard than in the wilderness.
