4. Museums
Like most countries in Europe, Spain has incredible art collections housed in gorgeous, classic buildings. El Museo Nacional del Prado, or simply El Prado, is home to native son Velazquez as well as major works by Goya, Bosch, and an astonishing number of Rembrandts. The overflow of these artists lives in the Thyssen-Bornemizsa Museum, also in Madrid. Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (or Reina Sofia) showcases 20th century and contemporary art, including Picasso’s famous Guernica. In Barcelona, the urban-cozy Picasso Museum is not to be missed, while Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum is a two-for-one pop of amazing art inside a stunning Frank Gehry building.
