1. Dalai Lama
Perhaps the most famous pacifist, the 14th (and current) Dalai Lama is the head monk of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, and his lifelong mission is to protect the basic rights and freedom of Tibetans around the world. He believes in non-violent protest and the importance of compassion as the source of a happy life. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and is well known as an inspiring spiritual leader who travels the world to share his teachings of Buddhism.
